Potplayer is pretty new compared to other video players but it packs a mean punch with very little to no tweaking needed. This lightweight player is from the makers of KM Player which is still very popular player.
Potplayer beats out other players by giving great quality with an unbelievable amount of options and still letting it go for free.
You can edit and tweak pretty much anything you like. Speed up or slow down the audio or subtitles to match the video and allows for professionals to change the renderer to create an even better experience.

Potplayer is also the only player I could find at the time of writing this post that can convert 2d subtitles to 3d subtitles. This simply means that it can take standard subtitles and split them into 2 pieces to sit over a side by side(SBS) video.
