How to Make and Sell Birthday/Anniversary Cards on Etsy

How to Make and Sell Birthday/Anniversary Cards on Etsy: Etsy is great marketplace for selling unique and interesting products. Birthday cards, greeting cards, anniversary cards and Christmas cards are popular products that are always in demand. If you make cards that can create an emotional impact on your audience, then you can draw them into buying your products. Cards are emotional by design, so they are a great product to start selling.

Today, I’m going to show you an easy way to get started creating your very own birthday card business in just a few easy steps.

First, we’re going to create Emotional Text for your cover, and then look at how to Design the Card itself, and then Have It Printed.

Emotional Text For Your Cards

In order to create text quickly, I use the free version of a tool called Copy.ai. It’s AI software that creates unique text according to your prompts. Copy.ai has 2 great tools that can help you create quality cards for any occasion. The first is appropriately called “Birthday Card” and it creates beautiful birthday cards and postcard messages by simply adding some details. Perhaps you want to make cards that are targeted at teachers – well, simply describe that the card is for a teacher and Copy.ai will create a bunch of outputs for you to review. Simply choose the one’s that you like and edit them to make them fit your style, or to add your recipients name.

The second option is the “Love Letter” tool. This is very similar to the birthday card tool, but it more love-focused, and can create longer paragraphs. It’s great for writing a paragraph for anniversaries and for Valentines day.

Here are some examples of birthday card messages generated by Copy.ai’s Birthday Card Tool:

“Friendships are not measured by time, but by memories. The friendship I share with you is priceless. Let’s celebrate this special day with a few drinks and good food. You know I never forget your birthday, so be ready for this one.”

“Thank you for all the wonderful memories and holidays we took together. Thank you for making me realize how important friendship is. Thank you for all your valuable guidance and support over the years. Thank you for being my true friend and a wonderful women. I am happy to call you my best friend. You mean the world to me! Happy birthday!”

“To me, you’re one of the greatest teacher in my life. And now that I’ve become an adult and a teacher myself, I hope you can see how much I’ve learned from you over the years. Today, as well as every day, I will raise a glass of wine to salute your fine sense of humor and excellence.”

Here are some examples of birthday card messages generated by Copy.ai’s Love Letter Tool:

“You’re my friend, my lover, my partner, my confidant. You’re my hero, my leader, my love. I’m so glad we’re together for another year of infinite possibilities. Happy Anniversary!”

“I still love you. It’s been 10 years and yes, I still think about you every day and I miss you when we’re apart. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and the closest friend I will ever have.”

“When you talk, I listen. When I talk, you listen. We’re just like an old married couple that way. Love you and Happy Anniversary.”

As you can see, this tool is able to generate heartfelt text that would look great on card covers. If you’d like to test it out yourself, you can try out the free version of Copy.ai here.

Designing Your Cards

Okay, so we know what we want in our cards, but what about cool fonts and images to make our cards stand out? This is actually a lot easier than you might think. Software like Canva is created specifically for this type of content. They have templates for any type of content, so you can even use one of these as a starting point for your first designs.

Canva has a number of great fonts that will really make your designs pop. There are also tons of effects to make your designs look professional and unique. It’s probably the easiest design tool available and will allow you to make multiple designs very quickly.

Canva also has a number of images available. However, if you want to have the correct license to use these images in your designs – then you’ll need to upgrade to the Pro version. However, Canva can be used for everything from making t-shirt designs to KDP low content book covers, so you’ll easily find that the low cost Pro version is incredibly useful for each and every project.

If you are searching for more niche images or unique standout fonts, then check out Creative Fabrica. They have a massive collection of images for any project. You can purchase images individually at very low prices, or you can sign up for a subscription that gives you access to thousands of image and font downloads.

Printing Your Cards

Having your cards printed is probably the easiest part of this whole process. Websites like Printful allow you to upload your images to their website and add it to any product in their catalogue – cards, t-shirts, mugs, etc. You can then connect your Etsy Store directly in Printify.

The best part is, you don’t have to pay anything upfront for the products. Printful is a print-on-demand (POD) company, so you will only get charged once someone purchases your product in Etsy. And because our Etsy store is connected directly to Printful, we don’t have to worry about shipping either. When someone buys a product from your Etsy store, Printfulwill be notified immediately. They’ll then charge you for the base item that was purchased, then proceed to print and ship the item on your behalf.
